A 3-year-old child is dead and the child’s father injured after a fire Monday morning in Roswell.

One firefighter also sustained minor burns in a trailer house fire reported at the Southfork Mobile Home Park in the 500 block of West Brasher Road at 9:35 a.m. Monday, according to a press release issued late Monday by the Roswell Fire Department.

The child was found dead inside a bedroom where the fire was located. The father of the deceased child was found lying on the ground outside the trailer and has been hospitalized with severe burns.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the bedroom where the child was found and the fire was brought under control within 15 minutes of firefighters arriving at the scene, according to the press release.

Roswell Police investigators in conjunction with the Roswell Fire Department’s Fire Marshal’s Office are conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire, and want the public to know that police are not in search of anyone regarding the fire.

Police report that information has been posted on Facebook that claims a person is being sought in relation to the fire, but such posts are false.

“People are asked not to call the police department in response to such posts,” the release states.
