A U.S. Army Veteran, RICHARD MORONI NELSON, 67, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019, in Roswell, New Mexico. Please take a moment and share a kind thought or memory with Richard’s family at www.andersonbethany.com.

SERVICES: A Viewing will be held at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Saturday, July 20, 2019, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.

On December 10, 1951, Richard was born to Lucy Nelson in Roswell, New Mexico. Upon graduating from Roswell High School, he attended The University of New Mexico (UNM). Richard enlisted in the United States Army, 7th Infantry Division and Fort Ord in Los Angeles, California, from 28 Oct 1975 to 27 Oct 1978, as a Dental Rem Prosthetic/Laboratory (Advanced) Specialist. During his military service, he was awarded a Good Conduct Expert Medal for exemplary behavior, efficiency and fidelity. Richard was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will be missed by many of whom he was kind to and always cared.

SURVIVORS: Those left to cherish memories of Richard’s are his brothers: Frank Joe Muñoz, Charlie Nelson; and sister, Lydia Nelson Broussard and husband Lawrence J.

PRECEDED: Preceding Richard in death: his mother, Lucy Padilla Nelson; grandparents: Frank and Ramona Padilla Nelson; brother, Guadalupe Muñoz; aunts and uncles: Alvino and Nestora Nelson Savedra, Manuel and Sofia Nelson Gonzales, Pete and Josephita Nelson Montoya, and Frank Nelson II.
