Military Heights students enjoy summer of learning

The students and staff at Military Heights Elementary have been making every moment count during the K-5 Plus summer school program this year.

Members of the Goddard Rockettes Dance Team stopped by to help students focus on physical fitness. Members of the dance team taught students several dances to encourage them to get moving, and to help the kids see that fitness can be a lot of fun.

Students did not stop there with amazing learning experiences. They were given the opportunity to learn about fire safety from Roswell Fire Department’s Fire Station 1. After the firefighters shared important safety information, they dressed Ms. Adams, Military Heights’ principal, as one of them — to show just who you should be looking for if you are ever in a smoke-filled building.

Once they were done with their safety instructions, they treated students to a cool-down, by spraying them with the firetruck.

Finally, students made a trip to East Grand Plains Elementary to visit animals brought down from Runyan Ranches. Students were given the opportunity to pet and feed alpacas, pigs, a kangaroo and goats, just to name a few. Students had been learning about animals all week and this was their opportunity to see the animals up close.
