A man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly struck an 8-year-old girl with his vehicle and fled the scene.

Jamie Marin, 34, was identified as the driver of a Ford F-150 pickup truck that struck the girl at about 7 a.m. Thursday in the 1700 block of North Delaware Avenue in Roswell, according to a news release issued Thursday evening by the Roswell Police Department.

Marin allegedly struck the girl while attempting to leave the scene of a domestic disturbance, the release states.

The girl was transported to a local hospital and details of her condition were not known before press time Thursday.

RPD Sgt. Ron Smith stated Marin was found and arrested at a house in Roswell later in the morning.

“He left and went to another house, but he didn’t go far,” Smith said.

Marin had a 2-year-old child in the vehicle with him when the accident happened, according to police.

The press release states Marin has been charged with two counts of child abuse.

Smith said Marin could also possibly face charges of leaving the scene or failure to report an accident.
