SERVICES: There will be a Viewing at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Sunday, July 28, 2019, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 1009 W. Alameda, Roswell, New Mexico, on Monday, July 29, 2019, 10:00 AM. Pastor Andy Byers will be officiating. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.
On February 9, 1938, Mary was born to Eldon (E.E.) and Fannie Mae Lokey. She was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas, and attended Texas Tech University. Mary married Claude Larry Hill, who preceded her in death. She and her husband were longtime residents of the Pecos Valley, living in Dexter, New Mexico and Roswell, New Mexico. Mary enjoyed working with her husband, Claude researching cotton samples.
A very talented artist, Mary loved collecting salt & pepper shakers, sewing, cross-stitch, and painting. In Mary’s love and growth in these arts, she became a member of the Pecos Valley Quilters; and received numerous awards for creating the most beautiful quilts. She was an avid member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mary enjoyed watching Texas Tech University sports and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Her most memorable moments were spending time with her loved ones and going to family reunions. Mary was dearly loved and will be profoundly missed by her family and friends.
SURVIVORS: Those left to eternally cherish and treasure Mary’s loving memory are her children: Sharla Johnson and husband James, Larry Hill, Deb Butler and husband Bryan; grandchildren: Danielle Harnish and husband Tyler, Bobby Hill, Nikki Hardin and husband Zack, Kayla Johnson; great-grandchildren: Korbin, Sophia, Parker, Michael, Griffin, Brandon; siblings: Joyce Witt, Patsy Lokey, Charles Lokey; numerous nieces and nephews; close friend, Dawnell Massey; and beloved dog, Buffy.
