Robert Corn, Chaves County Commissioner who served as chair of the Board of Commissioners for several years, has been recognized as the 2017 New Mexico Commissioner of the Year by the Coalition of Arizona and New Mexico Counties. The award commemorates efforts to help the coalition in its primary aim of protecting private property rights. The awards are not given unless someone is found to have gone “above and beyond their elected or appointed duties.” Recipients are chosen by their peers. Because the coalition could not present the award in 2018, the plaque was presented at the board’s Thursday meeting at the Chaves County Administrative Center.
