The Chaves County Health Council, in conjunction with Eastern New Mexico Medical Center, La Casa Family Health Center and the New Mexico Department of Health, will host the first annual Chaves County Health Expo and 5K Run Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Roswell Convention and Civic Center, 912 N. Main St.

A Kids Korner will be located at De Bremond Stadium, across the street, where vendors and exhibitors will be giving away school supplies, backpacks, food, prizes and other items.

The event will kick off with La Casa’s Rooted in Community 5K Run that begins at the convention center. Visit racesonline.com to register. Proceeds will go to the La Casa Food Baskets to help feed families in the community. The first 50 participants will receive a free tee-shirt the day of the event.

The Chaves County Health Expo is for all ages and is designed to encourage healthful lifestyles, prevent and manage disease and illness, and connect the community to resources. The expo will have over 110 booths, including many health screening booths. The Women’s Project will provide limited funding for free mammogram screenings. To schedule a mammogram, contact assuredimaging.com/chaves or call 888-233-6121.
