Letter: Military weapons don’t belong in civilian hands

Let’s look at the text of the Second Amendment: “A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

Can anyone argue that the current situation resembles “a well regulated militia?” I think it’s clear that to effect “the security of a free State” military weapons need to be removed from civilian hands.
