Letter: 4th Annual Go Latinas event a success

We at WESST truly enjoyed our 4th Annual Go Latinas event on Saturday, Aug. 17.

Thank you, Mary Gonzalez, for starting our morning off with your beautiful voice, and leading us in the National Anthem, thank you to our amazing speakers Lori Ordonez, Manuela Ramirez, Dr. Angelica Rodriguez and Brenda Cruz. So inspirational and motivating.

Thank you, Alice Mora with the Small Business Administration for participating in all four years of this event. Both Alma Vasquez from our Albuquerque WESST office and Roseanna Perea from our WESST office in Santa Fe showed up to help us in Roswell … and I certainly can’t forget my Program Coordinator, Hope Morones, who stepped in after only a month and was a tremendous asset along with Deena Nolan, our WESST long-term volunteer. WESST Team all the way!

Without our sponsors, we could not offer this amazing event. Thank you to Jennifer Homes, Valley Dairy Products, John Jerge, CPA, Roswell Hispano Chamber of Commerce and Alison Penn. Every year we have invited Irene Villegas and the Los Chismosas to serve and they have done so with the utmost grace. When I requested the invoice from Accent Flowers, she said she wanted to contribute the beautiful flowers as her support of the event.

A huge shout out to Sergio and the Elks Lodge. Great venue, great food and the best customer service anyone could hope for in Roswell. And thank you to the Roswell Daily Record who always covers our events.

Thank you to Jose Louis Hernandez for serenading us during lunch.

There was a great group of small businesses who set up tables to inform us and allow us to purchase their wares. On Friday night, I was thankful that the Pain Slayer (Felecia Harvey) was there because she was able to walk on my back and straighten me out. Thank you All About Spas, Aflac, Lyd’s Salsa, CMG Financial, Cynthia DeSantiago’s Scentsy, Wells Fargo, ZT Leather, Palace Spa, Pain Slayer-Rossiter, Claudia’s Mobile Massage, Rumors Salon/Orphic lashes, Daddy Daughter Shell Art, First American Bank, Lexie Orona’s Herbalife, Bryan’s Green Care and the Roswell Hispano Chamber of Commerce for participating in our event. Believe me, the door prizes these businesses provided were amazing and people who won left very happy.

Looking ahead, let’s save the date for the 5th annual Go Latinas Conference … Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020.
