The premiere of the musical “Man of La Mancha” took place Friday evening at the Roswell Community Little Theatre. The timeless story is about an old Spanish country gentleman living out his dream of fighting evil as the knight Don Quixote (Daniel Tisdale), and protecting his lady Dulcinea, who is actually the tavern wench Aldonza. The actors were cast by director Simeon, who didn’t shy away from having Leon portray Aldonza as written by Miguel de Cervantes in 1605. Leon shines in the role beside Tisdale with her temper, talent and timing. After the show, audience members were heard saying there could be no better person than the tall Tisdale for the role of Don Quixote. Experienced actor Berkeley Dittman portrays Quixote’s sidekick and servant Sancho Panza. Standing out among the ensemble is Maya Campuzano, who plays Don Quixote’s niece. The voice of the teenager is one of the strongest and clearest on stage, and the audience thanked her with loud applause. The public has two more weekends to see the musical at RCLT, 1770 S. Union Ave., with showings on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. For more information, visit roswelltheatre.com, or call 575-622-1982. (Christina Stock Photo)
