Cecilia Hoogerhuis, 74, passed away Monday, September 16, 2019 and will be dearly missed. Her funeral services will be held today, September 19th at St. Peter’s Church. The viewing will be from 12-2 with a mass and burial to follow at South Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to accept donations for the services.

Cecilia was born November 6, 1944 to Ramon and Annie Gutierrez in Roswell. She received her GED then went on to get her nursing certificate from ENMU-R and was a certified nurse’s assistant for 10 years. Her motto was “Hurry up! Get things done.”

She was stationed in the Philippines from 1967 to 1969 with her husband Edward who have been married for 54 years. They moved to Roswell in July of 1969. She was a resident of Roswell for 50 years.

She is survived by her husband Edward, daughter Jaclyn, son Jeffrey, two siblings Reynalda Romero, Anadina Madala, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and several cousins.

She is preceded in death by her son Terrence E. Hoogerhuis, her sisters Mary E. Peters, Francis Velez, and Margie Moore. She was thoughtful of her family and always made sure they had what they needed. We love you Mom.
