The Roswell Field Office of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management is seeking volunteers for its upcoming National Public Lands Day event on Saturday.

In recognition of this annual observance, the BLM will be planting trees and painting the nature trail guardrail at Valley of Fires Recreation Area.

In concert with other events around the country, the BLM is encouraging the public to join BLM staff in making a difference for public land resources they use and value.

Those interested should meet at 9 a.m. at the Valley of Fires Visitor Center, located about 4 miles west of Carrizozo, via U.S. Highway 380.

It is recommended that volunteers wear a hat, long sleeves, good walking shoes and sun protection.
