Part of Main Street to close for parade

A portion of Main Street will be closed for a few hours Monday, Sept. 30 to accommodate the Eastern New Mexico State Fair parade that will roll through downtown Roswell.

Main Street between 19th and McGaffey streets will be closed to traffic beginning about 9:30 a.m. Traffic detours will be in place. The parade, which begins at 10 a.m., and will travel south on Main Street from College Boulevard, is expected to last at least two hours.

During the parade, parking will not be allowed along the parade-route portion of Main Street.

Some city offices and facilities will be closed so city employees may attend the parade. City hall will be closed Monday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Some other city facilities may be closed during that time as well.

Citizens are asked to call specific facilities to check on their statuses during that time period Monday before visiting to conduct business.
