He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in law and mother-in-law Willard and Georgia Needham, and by brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tom and Charlene Crook.

Bill’s passion was anything in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fly fisherman and outdoorsman. He enjoyed team roping and hiking in the mountains. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Artesia, NM, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and NRA. Later in life, his passion shifted to his grandchildren. He was very proud of them and would tell anyone who would listen about them and what they were doing and maybe a few who wouldn’t listen. After his military service, he worked most of his career as welder, then later as a welding inspector in the energy industry, all over the U. S.

Survivors include his wife Peggy of Lake Arthur; a son Bryan Scott and wife Nicole of Liberty Hill, Texas; a daughter Shaunna Smith and husband David of Clovis, N.M.; a sister Tana Sherwood of Newport Beach, Calif.; grandchildren Zane Scott, Lana Scott, Dustin Smith and wife Erin, Caylie Wattenbarger and husband Daniel, Kamryn Smith and Breelie Smith; and by one great-grandchild on the way.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Vision 2020 Building Fund at First Baptist Church, 322 West Grand Street, Artesia, NM 88210. Arrangements have been entrusted to Terpening & Son Mortuary. Please remember Mr. Scott online at www.artesiafunerals.com
