It is hard to find qualified technicians to work on automobiles, according to representatives of one local dealership.

To help promote the profession, Krumland Auto Group has worked on building a relationship with Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell, specifically the Automotive Technology Program.

ENMU-R and Krumland Auto Group representatives also met with representatives from the Roswell Independent School District to try and reach students, interested in this career field, at an early age, according to a press release from Krumland.

The process has led to the Krumland Auto Group Scholarship Program for the Automotive Technology program at ENMU-R.

As students enroll in the two-year associate’s degree program at ENMU-R, they can complete an application for the scholarship.

After an application and interview process, two students were recently selected and offered the scholarship, Diego Ibarra and Jesus Chavez — recipients of the first-ever Krumland Auto Group Automotive Scholarship, according to the press release.

They will each receive a top-of-the-line 41” RS Pro Roller Cabinet toolbox complete with tools.

Students apply for the scholarship through Eric Gomez, Automotive Technology Program director; and Kimberly Andazola, scholarship coordinator in the financial aid department at ENMU-R.

This scholarship process will renew each semester.
