ADA ADELINE THACKERAY, 96, of Roswell, NM, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Sunday night, September 29, 2019.

Addie was born May 23, 1923, to Ike and Gertie Ykema in Peace, Minnesota. She had one brother, Flores; and three older sisters: Winnie, Aggie, and Jo. Addie was married to Alfred Van Laar for twenty-seven years and together had four children: Neadie, Jean, Shirley, and Larry Allan. They raised their family in Southern California. Sometime later, she met Fred Thackeray while square dancing and they were married for thirty-six years. They loved traveling together both on the motorcycle and with their motor home. Addie was proud to say that they had visited all but six states. They also enjoyed trips to Hawaii and a Cruise to the Caribbean and Panama Canal Cruise.

They moved to Roswell in their later years. For the past thirteen years, Addie had loved living at Peace Tree. The last three months, she lived at Heartfelt Manor, where she was given great care in her final days.

First and foremost, Addie loved her Lord and Savior, and desired her family to know and love the Lord. She read her Bible and devotional daily until she no longer could. Addie loved her family and it was evident by all the pictures that surrounded her. Addie also loved square dancing, quilting, crocheting, upholstering, playing Skip Bo, and the social security board game with dear friends at Peach Tree.
