Humberto Rodriguez, right, an Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell student, has won first place in the Action Skills contest at the National SkillsUSA Championships, held June 28 in Louisville, Kentucky. Rodriguez and Automotive Technology Instructor Eric Gomez describe his project to the ENMU-R Community College Board. They said he developed a display and presentation to describe diagnosing and repairing brakes. He previously won first in a state competition, enabling him to represent New Mexico for his category at the nationals. The annual SkillsUSA competitions for high school and college students allow participants to demonstrate their knowledge and abilities in more than 100 contests covering 10 different career fields as well as a leadership category.
