Roswell Mayor Dennis Kintigh, City Councilor Barry Foster and Senior Zookeeper Andrea Cole smile shortly after the first of the new zoo signs was unveiled on Friday afternoon at Spring River Zoo at 1306 E. College Blvd. The first sign was for capybaras, the largest rodents in the world, which Cole said are sponsored by Derik and Kelly Smith, and will arrive soon. Cole said approximately 46 of the new signs, with facts about the animals and photos taken predominantly by the zookeepers, can be seen around the exhibits and at the fishing lake. Kintigh said the signs were sponsored by Cielo Grande Veterinary Center at $10,000, Friends of the Zoo at $4,000 and with less than $650 from the city of Roswell. (Alison Penn Photo)
