Born: November 22, 1936 – Died: October 1, 2019

Jim left his loving wife of sixty-one years, and family in Roswell, NM, on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, to join his mother, father, and baby sister in heaven. Please take a moment and share a kind thought or memory with Jim’s family at www.andersonbethany.com.

Jim was the only child, in exception of his baby sister, born to George and Genevieve Hurless of Sioux Rapids, Iowa. He was raised in Sioux Rapids, and upon graduation in 1954, Jim moved to Washington, D.C., to fulfill his dream of becoming an FBI agent. After obtaining employment with the FBI, enrolling in college, Jim worked in different departments—his last being a cryptanalyst.

He joined the Marine Corps in February 1957 and was honorably discharged in April 1959. While in the Marine Corps, Jim met and married Virginia, the love of his life, on February 15, 1958. Shortly after, they started their family of two boys and one girl. After their first child was born, Jim wanted to move to Colorado to raise his family in the beautiful mountains of Loveland, Colorado. He was a Colorado State Patrolman for almost five years and obtained an award for 250,000 of safe (accident-free) driving. After Jim’s family started growing up, he moved to Roswell, NM, where he became a finance manager at Richard Barton Toyota for ten years and retired as Finance Manager at McMurtry Toyota.

Upon retirement, which Jim loved, he played basketball, pickleball, and took long walks with his wife. In the summers at his mobile home in Colorado, Jim would drink coffee sitting on his deck and watch the deer.
