Warrant issued for man in Friday night shooting death

An arrest warrant has been issued for a man suspected in the Friday night shooting death of his girlfriend in northern Roswell.

The public is being asked to report any information to the police that could lead to the location of Jesus Robles, 34, according to a press release issued by the Roswell Police Department Saturday.

Robles is wanted on one count of first degree murder and one count of felon in possession of a firearm in connection with the fatal shooting of Griselda Rascon, 33 of Roswell.

Police were called to Rascon’s residence in the 800 block of Deborah Drive shortly before 9 p.m. Friday, after she was found in her home with a single gunshot wound to the head, according to the release. She was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her wound.

Robles was identified as a suspect in the course of the initial investigation,the release states. Within an hour of the shooting,a vehicle described by a witness and believed to be the one spotted fleeing the scene after  seen in the southeastern part of the city at a residence in the 900 block of East Matthews Street.

The Roswell Police Department SWAT Team entered and searched two houses within the area where Robles is believed to have lived. However, he was not found inside either residence.

According to the release, people with information about the case or the location of Robles are asked to report it to the Roswell Police Department at 575-624-6770 or Chaves County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-594-8477.

Racon’s death is the fourth reported homicide within the city of Roswell in 2019 and the fifth within Chaves County during that same period.
