A suspect wanted in a Sunday stabbing in Chaves County that left one man dead and another injured was found and arrested Tuesday at a Roswell restaurant.

Mike Herrington, Chaves County Sheriff, said Armando Joya, 31, was apprehended at about 2:30 p.m. at Church’s Chicken on North Main Street, after a citizen called in a tip that Joya was eating at the restaurant.

“So we went there and sure enough there he was,” Herrington said. Joya was then apprehended without incident and as of Tuesday afternoon was being held at the Chaves County Detention Center.

Joya is a suspect in the stabbing death of a 62-year-old man that happened Sunday on Vineyard Road between Hagerman and U.S. 285.

The victim was deceased when deputies arrived at the scene. A second victim was airlifted to a medical facility with stab wounds.
