The guest speaker at the Sunrise Optimist Club’s regular meeting this past Wednesday was Kathy Lay with MainStreet Roswell. She offered an informative talk starting with the organization, their promotions, how they are networked with the city of Roswell, the Chamber of Commerce and other organizations to benefit Roswell. Some of the projects she mentioned were Reischman Park, planting the flowers downtown, the holiday snowflake lighting, flags and banners, facade squads to improve the front of buildings and even the alien eyes on the light poles.

They try to get the word out about MainStreet Roswell in many different ways. Some of the ways are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Roswell Daily Record and radio stations. Even the events they put on are geared toward promotions. Some of those are First Friday Downtown Market, the Chile Cheese Festival, Veterans Ceremony and Parade, Farmers’ Market and the UFO Festival.
