Above: Military Heights Elementary School’s student council jumped at the opportunity to support Sheriff Mike Herrington’s call for candy. Last week, students collected candy all week to benefit other kids in Roswell. In the past, Military Heights’ student council has performed a service project each month to help a nonprofit organization in Roswell meet a need. Students have collected nonperishable food, toiletries, pet food, gently used backpacks and various other items.
Below: For the Chaves County Sheriff’s Office’s call for candy, the students’ collection yielded 111 pounds of candy, and a visit from Herrington. The students loved visiting with Herrington and getting to take a picture with him, but most of all, they enjoyed helping the sheriff’s department to make our community a kinder community.
