The New Mexico division of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) New Mexico is holding a two-week public comment period on the environmental analysis for its Feb. 6, 2020 oil and gas lease sale.
Seventy-two parcels (17,464.42 acres) of federal minerals are proposed for lease, located in Eddy, Lea, Rio Arriba and Sandoval counties in New Mexico, and Kingfisher, Roger Mills and Cheyenne counties in Oklahoma.
By statute, the BLM is required to offer quarterly oil and gas lease sales of available federal lands.
Public comments will be accepted electronically via the BLM Land Use Planning and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Register (ePlanning). The BLM website, blm.gov., links to the ePlanning site.
