Last week’s guest speaker at the Sunrise Optimist Club’s regular meeting was Tim Fuller and Amy Davis from the Character Counts program. They discussed the upcoming celebration of Character Counts, Oct. 19-24. Character Count’s goal in Chaves County is to provide a framework for character education in Chaves County. They do this through many character education and recognition programs.

The celebration will be honoring the Honorable Alvin F. Jones, “Year of the Bowtie.” Judge Jones worked diligently and relentlessly with his program. He gave unselfishly his time and talents to make this program a success from the beginning until his death.

Chaves County Commission officially proclaimed Oct. 19-24 as “Character Counts Week.”
