New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and members of her administration will be in Roswell Nov. 2, providing local residents with the chance to speak first-hand with top officials within state government.

Lujan Grisham and representatives from as many as 14 state-level departments and agencies will be at the Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell campus from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Cabinet in Your Community, Judy Robinson, deputy director of communications for Lujan Grisham’s office, said Friday.

Details, such as what building the public event will be at and which state agencies will be participating, are still being worked out, Robinson said. The event will provide a forum for people to ask questions of top officials and apply for state government services.

The Cabinet in Your Community event in Roswell is the second event of its kind hosted by Lujan Grisham, Robinson said. A similar event was held Aug. 10 in Albuquerque. She said Lujan Grisham is planning to hold similar events throughout New Mexico.

Often state government gets a reputation for being bureaucratic and inefficient, Robinson said, but Cabinet in Your Community is a way to challenge that image by offering people one-stop shopping for state government services.

“I want to make sure our administration visits every corner of this state so we can demonstrate directly to New Mexico communities that we are all about the people’s business,” Lujan Grisham said in a statement. “I demand the highest quality constituent services of my cabinet agencies and our state providers. I want people in Roswell to know: We are going to get you whatever services you need, all in one place, as efficiently as we can.”

Robinson said most services will require a photo ID and some paperwork. Additional information will be provided about the event as it becomes available.

The Cabinet in Your Community event will mark the second trip Lujan Grisham has made to Roswell since she was sworn into office Jan. 1.
