Amelia Maria Oracion Eakens, passed on August 11, 2019 in Roswell, NM. Amy was born December 15, 1929 to Manual and Clara Oracion in Roswell, NM. After graduating from Roswell High School in 1947, she attended Saint Joseph’s School of Nursing in Albuquerque, NM. Amy returned to Roswell and worked for Dr. Baldwin, Dr. Steve and I.J. Marshall of Marshall Clinic, Dr. Harold G. Ray, Dr. Howard Smith and Dr. Kevin Lowe of Roswell, NM.

Amy married Kenneth Eakens, the love of her life and they were truly inseparable. In their retirement years, Kenneth and Amy travelled many miles to trout fish in northern NM and CO. Their favorite places were Chama, Menkhaven and they finally made their home at Navajo Dam, NM on the San Juan River. Taking care of Kenneth was the greatest joy of her life.

Amy is survived by a daughter, Cheri Redmon and husband Fritz Freese of Navajo Dam, NM; a grandson, Newt Hendricks and his two sons, Knox and Kyelar of Tulia, TX; a granddaughter, Holly Hendricks-Mote and her daughter, Tilly Cheri of McKinney, TX; Larry Hendricks, Newt and Holly’s father of Tulia, TX. Siblings: Ann Chavez (George) of Roswell; Leo Oracion (Ann) of San Diego, CA; a sister-in-law, Betty Oracion of Roswell; and many nephews and nieces and their families. She is preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Marques Oracion, Manual Oracion, Jr; and Theodore Oracion.

Amy’s ashes will be placed beside her beloved Kenneth at South Park Cemetery on Friday, October 25, following a funeral mass at St. Peter’s Catholic Church at 2:00pm in Roswell.
