A former Dexter Consolidated Schools Board of Education member has been appointed to fill a vacancy until new board members are installed in January.

Marvin Bramblett, a farmer in Dexter who said he previously served on the board for 18 years, agreed to accept the appointment made by three other school board members during a Monday night meeting at the district’s Central Office.

He is filling the unexpired term of Amanda Bogle. Superintendent Lesa Dodd said that Bogle resigned to return to the classroom and is now teaching at Dexter Middle School.

Bramblett will serve until newly elected school board members are seated in January. Election Day for board members is Nov. 5.

“It has been a real pleasure to work with Dexter schools,” he said. “It gives you a good feeling. It is not always fun, but someone has to do it.”

Staff and board members noted that Bramblett has remained involved in Dexter schools throughout the years, including as a supporter of its athletic teams.

The board also named a new secretary, at least until January, since Bogle had filled that role. Mike Gomez now will serve in that officer position.
