An 18-year-old Roswell High School student who was hospitalized after sustaining a serious head injury has been released from the hospital, Todd Wildermuth, public information officer for the Roswell Police Department, said Thursday.

“He was airlifted to a Lubbock hospital, where he was treated and released late last night,” Wildermuth said. He did not disclose the name of the student.

Police responded at about 12:45 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a male who sustained a head injury at Roswell High. Wildermuth later said that a subsequent investigation determined that those involved in the fight were “mutually involved,” as opposed to one party being the victim and the other the aggressor.

There was no word on the cause of the fight or whether any criminal charges will be filed in connection with the incident.
