Local residents will have the chance this Saturday to interact directly with state government when New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and personnel from more than a dozen state agencies visit Roswell.

Lujan Grisham and representatives from 15 state departments will host a Cabinet in Your Community event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Physical Education Center Gymnasium on 52 B University Boulevard on the Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell campus, according to a press release from Lujan Grisham’s Office.

Cabinet in Your Community is an outreach effort by state government to provide New Mexicans with the chance to ask questions of state agency representatives and sign up for state programs including childcare assistance, driver’s license renewal, benefits for veterans and eligibility for Medicaid.

“Taking care of people is Job No.1 in state government,” Lujan Grisham said in the release. “I mean business about transforming this state; a crucial part of that mission is improving how we provide state government resources to New Mexico — and demonstrating that we can do it better.”

The event is free and open to the public.
