A loving mother and grandmother, MARIE CORTEZ, 53, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019. Please take a moment and share a kind thought or memory with Marie’s family at www.andersonbethany.com.

Marie was born on August 2, 1966, in Roswell, NM, to Theodore “Manuel” Duran Jr. and Mary Duran. She worked multiple jobs throughout her life, but her main job was being a mom and grandma. Anyone who knew Marie knew she was smart, happy, and full of life. She always made everyone around her smile. Marie was a diehard Kansas City Chiefs fan. She loved listening to music and dancing. Marie had many “adopted” children, as she was always known as the most passionate caring mom of our groups of friends. If anyone needed to talk, Marie was there to listen and try to help you the best way she knew how. She was always so great at making lifelong friends. She will be truly missed by many.

Those left to cherish memories of Marie are husband, Fernando “Guerro” Cortez; children: Richard Torrez Jr. and wife Gloria Andrade, Angelica and wife Gabriela Quintero, and youngest daughter, Ambrosia “Amber” Bustamante; grandchildren: Manuel, Lillianna “Lilly,” Nehemiah “Nemo” Torrez, and expected grandson Gabriel Quintero; sisters: Cathy Guilez and husband Art Rodriguez, and Ruth Rubio all of Roswell, NM; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Preceding Marie in death was her father, Theodore “Manuel” Duran Jr; mother, Mary Duran; brother, David Duran; and sister, Irene Duran.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Friday, November 8, 2019, at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.
