ENMU-Roswell holds Veterans Day ceremony

Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell will hold a Veterans Day ceremony from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Lawrence C. Harris Occupational Technology Center, 20 W. Mathis St., room 124. The event will recognize employees and students who are veterans with certificates of appreciation. Louie Maestas, Marine veteran and Mike Martinez, Army veteran, will speak during the ceremony. Special honored guest will be 97-year-old Manuel Rafael Martinez, Sgt. Marine. 4th Marine Division. ENMU-Roswell student, Elexis De La Rosa, will sing the National Anthem. Goddard High School will have a special Veterans Day Ceremony, “Salutes — A Tribute to Our Veterans,” at Goddard High School Gym, 701 E. Country Club Road, at 1:30 p.m. A private small reception will be held for veterans and their loved ones at 1 p.m. in the little theater. For more information, call 575-627-4800.

Veterans Parade

This year’s Veterans Parade has the theme Keep ‘em Flying. The parade route starts on Main Street at 9 a.m. from College Boulevard to Fourth Street. There will be a wreath-laying ceremony following the parade at the Chaves County Courthouse. Deadline to be part of the parade is Nov. 2. B.R.A.V.E. 5K walk or run

B.R.A.V.E. — “Bringing Remembrance to All Veterans Everywhere” 5K walk or run is presented by the New Mexico Military Institute’s Military Science Department in conjunction with the Veteran’s Day Parade on Nov. 9. Veterans Salute

First United Methodist Church Roswell, 200 N. Pennsylvania Ave., will recognize our veterans in a Veterans Salute and patriotic-themed worship service at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is invited. For more information, call 575-622-1881.

Nov. 11

Honoring all veterans

Valley View Elementary, 1400 S. Washington Ave., invites all veterans to attend a small reception from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. There will be punch and cookies for the veterans after the students perform. For more information, call Denise Samuels at 575-637-3606.

Assembly in Portales

The main campus of Eastern New Mexico University in Portales is holding a Veterans Day Celebration on Monday, Nov. 11. Events are scheduled from 11:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Pecos Room of the Campus Union and will have several different events. One is the National Roll Call, a nationwide grassroots effort that will name more than 300 ENMU students who have served in the armed forces.
