Ken was born on October 26, 1933 in Roswell, New Mexico and passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019, surrounded by his family.
Ken was a resident of Golden, Colorado at the time of his passing. He graduated from Roswell High School in 1952.
After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy where he played football on the All Services All Star football team and served on the USS St. Lawrence.
After his service in the US Navy, he attended the New Mexico Military Institute and played football.
In 1958 the NMMI football team had an historic record of achievement. The 1958 Broncos are the only team to win the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Junior College Championship and the only undefeated, untied team in NMMI history. Ken was also selected as a 1958 NJCAA All American. Later in life, he was inducted into the NMMI Alumni Hall of Fame.
In 1959 Ken married the love of his life, Marilyn Kay Kizer. They had two children, Sabrina Kay Willis and Todd Lamar Willis.
Ken loved his family and football. That is where he received his joy in life. Ken coached little league football and baseball for many years, he always wanted to give back. He was a kind and generous man who loved life, sports, the outdoors and always had a kind word for everyone and positive attitude. He will be missed by everyone that he touched.
He is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Tommie Willis, Sisters Evelyn “Babe” Willis and Ruth Willis; Brothers J.T. Willis and Maurice Willis, father in law and mother in law Clovis and Imogee Kizer.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn Kay (Kizer) Willis, two children, Sabrina Kay Willis and Todd Lamar Willis, wife Michelle Willis, two grandchildren, Justin Michael Fears, wife Michelle Fears and Stephanie Kay Fears.
