The 35th Annual Reindeer Run is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7.

The event offers a competitive 10K run, 5K run and 5K walk, as well as the newly added non-competitive 2-mile walk/run. All races begin at 9 a.m. at the Roswell Adult Center, 807 N. Missouri Ave.

Participants in the 10K and 5K races will compete in nine age divisions in men’s and women’s categories. Age divisions are 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-70, and 70 and older. Overall male and female winners in each race will receive awards. First- through third-place finishers will receive medals in each age group. Commemorative T-shirts will be given to all participants.

“We love this event because everyone is really into the Christmas spirit,” says event organizer Daniel Franco of the city’s Recreation Department. “Our community’s health and wellness is a priority, and this is just one of our many events that address these needs.”

The Reindeer Run is sponsored by the Roswell Recreation Department, Xcel Energy, the New Mexico Mounted Patrol, Chaves County Search and Rescue, and Pecos Valley Radio Club.
