Howard Franklin Basnett, age 92, of Roswell passed away on November 18, 2019 in Roswell, New Mexico. He was born to the home of William Franklin and Irene Cynthia Basnett on March 9, 1927 in Cedar City, Missouri.

Howard is preceded in death by his parents, William and Irene and brother Roy Basnett.

Howard attended Jefferson City High School. When the United States entered World War II, Howard chose to serve his country and entered the United States Navy. However, when his true aged surfaced, Howard was to young to serve and was sent home. Like so many young men at that time, it was more important to serve their country and their age wasn’t going to prevent them from that. After his service, Howard joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

After serving his country, Howard was an entrepreneur owning a few businesses in trades matching his many skills. His greatest pleasure came from driving people around and served the community for over thirty years as a cab driver.

Howard is survived by his daughters: Barbara Bingham, Patricia McKee, Diane Gwerder, and Marilyn Jeffers; sons Howard Basnett Jr and James Basnett; 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 19 great great-grandchildren, 1 niece, and 2 nephews.

Private burial services have taken place.
