Opal’s identity was love. She loved her Lord, her family and her friends with an unconditional love that radiated her face and her person.

Born in Roswell, New Mexico and where she lived most of her life, gave her the opportunity to meet and know many people. A part of her young years was spent living in Washington state and Arkansas where she attended grade school. Her family moved to Roswell where she attended school and graduated from Roswell High School with the class of 1939.

She met Gean Whited in Arkansas and they were married on January 4, 1942. Through that marriage they had three children, Linda Bergman (Joe), Lois Lorentzen (John) and Robert Whited (Marlena).

Opal loved her church family and her christian friends. She particularly enjoyed the Wednesday Morning Ladies Bible Class and playing dominoes and games with her ladies group. She was a homemaker and cook extraordinaire and a true blessing to anyone who knew her. The only reason a million people didn’t love her is because a million people didn’t know her.

Opal is survived by daughters, Linda and Lois and son, Robert. Grandchildren: Greg Bergman (Mel), Zane Bergman (Tammra), Tia Lorentzen, Bree (Lorentzen) Dencklau (Jason), Shay Lorentzen, Carley (Whited) Moore (Brandon), and Megan Whited. Great grandchildren: Zachry Scott Bergman, Skyler Zane Bergman, Camren Joseph Bergman, Adeline Grace Moore, Emelia Blake Moore, Sevie Star Lorentzen and Wesley Reign Dencklau, sisters: Neva Doyle (Don), Nancy Perrin and Jane Woods (Kippy) along with many beloved nephews and nieces.

She is predeceased by her husband of forty nine years, Gean Whited, her father and mother Homer and Ova Burton, one sister, Thelma Heaton and two brothers, Donald and William (Dub) Burton.

Her life on this earth will never go unnoticed and will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on December 21, 2019 at the Country Club Road Church of Christ, 700 West Country Club Road at 11:30 a.m. The service will be officiated by Doug Austin, Minister.
