City announces holiday schedule

City administration offices and several other city facilities will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, as well as New Year’s Day.

City bus service will have adjusted schedules for those holidays.

The Roswell Public Library, the Roswell Museum and Art Center, the Roswell Visitors Center, the Roswell Recreation and Aquatic Center and the Roswell Adult Center will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

On New Year’s Eve, the Recreation and Aquatic Center and the Adult Center will close early, the Recreation and Aquatic Center will close at 6 p.m. and the Adult Center at 5 p.m.

The Spring River Zoo will be closed Christmas Eve (the zoo is closed every Tuesday) and Christmas Day. The zoo will be open New Year’s Day.

In addition, the Robert H. Goddard Planetarium at the Roswell Museum and Art Center will be closed for two weeks beginning Monday. It will reopen Saturday, Jan. 4, for its 2:30 p.m. show.

Pecos Trails Transit will have buses in limited operation Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day. On those days, buses will run only on Main Street. On Christmas Eve, the buses will run what would normally be a Saturday schedule from 7:10 a.m. to 10:03 p.m. On New Year’s Day, the buses will run what would normally be a Sunday schedule from 10:28 a.m. to 6:52 p.m. The buses do not run Christmas Day. They will run a normal schedule New Year’s Eve.

The Sanitation Department’s trash pickup for Christmas week and New Year’s week will remain on a normal schedule since Christmas and New Year’s Day each fall on a Wednesday when trash pickup does not occur as part of the regular schedule.

The landfill will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, as well as New Year’s Day.
