Letter: ‘Shall not be infringed’ — the wording is clear

The Democratic Party passed Jim Crow laws after the Civil War. These laws were designed to criminalize constitutionally protected behaviors, attitudes and beliefs. Jim Crow laws were purported to “protect” citizens. Results were overt racism and violations of civil rights that lasted for almost 100 years. We continue to this day to seek redress for the ills these Democrat-conceived violations of civil rights created.

Today, the Democratic Party in New Mexico wants to initiate Gun Control measures to “protect” the citizens. These laws will impact everyone’s God-given civil rights. Rights enumerated in the 2nd, 4th and 14th Amendments.

Just like Martin Luther King, I vow to oppose “Jim Crow” gun “safety” laws with every non-violent bone in my body.

What part of “shall not be infringed” do my friends in the Democratic Party fail to understand?
