A Roswell man was found guilty by a federal grand jury in Las Cruces Tuesday on several federal child pornography charges.

Dain Justin Adams, 38, of Roswell, was found guilty by a jury Tuesday on two counts of distribution and one count each of receipt, possession and conspiracy to produce visual depictions of minors engaged in sexual conduct, according to a press release issued Wednesday by the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico.

A mistrial was declared on a sixth charge of travel with intent to commit aggravated sexual abuse, after the jury could not reach a unanimous verdict on the count, a document filed in U.S. District Court states.

Adams now awaits sentencing on the five charges. The release states Adams faces 15 to 30 years in prison for conspiracy to produce, 10 to 20 years for possession and five to 20 years for distribution of visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Jade Laurezo, 35, and a co-defendant in the case, pleaded guilty Oct. 31, 2019 to production of a visual depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. She is also awaiting sentencing.

A criminal complaint states an undercover agent with the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office was online in an undercover capacity May 16, 2018 when he located a computer sharing files of child pornography subscribed to by Adams.

The agent on multiple occasions was able to download videos — featuring females ranging in age from 8 to 12 years old engaged in sexual activity — from a device with that IP address, the complaint states.

Law enforcement executed a search warrant on Adams’ residence on June 27, 2018, where multiple devices were seized. According to the complaint, Adams was not at the residence at the time the search warrant was executed.

Adams later denied sharing or possessing child pornography. He said that his ex-wife was out to get him and Laurezo, who was at his apartment at the time the search warrant was executed, had access to all his devices.

Investigators uncovered conversations with an application called Viper. In one conversation, Adams allegedly discussed with someone else his desire to sexually abuse minors and allegedly admitted that he sexually assaulted a 5-year-old in California.
