Fourth-year Roswell wrestling coach, Jesse Boggs, has pulled the rabbit out of the hat. He has coached well enough for his Coyote grapplers to finish in third place on the mats in the district at Hobbs on Saturday. Carlsbad won first place and then host team Hobbs came in second. Roswell was one point away from finishing in second place.
Boggs will send six wrestlers to state on Friday and Saturday, to include Jaymon Cherinko (9-3) at 120 pounds; Joseph Garcia (12-16) at 138 pounds; Kayden Graham (24-10) at 152 pounds; and Nathaniel Sanchez (30-7) at 160 pounds. Also going to state are the big winners on the day that won their weight class: Zack Buckmister (16-7) at 220 pounds, who took first place and Gabriel Garcia (24-6) at 285 pounds.
“We’re building toward state,” Roswell wrestling coach Jesse Boggs said. “We’re hoping to have placers.”
Here are the results of the tournament held on Saturday in Hobbs.
