Mary Arredondo passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on Saturday, February 15, 2020, surrounded by family at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center-Roswell.

On May 11, 1933, Mary was born in Hagerman, NM, she was one of ten children born to Mariano B Montoya and Ophelia Montoya. Mary worked as a Seamstress, Instructor, and Supervisor at Levi Strauss Company for a total of 25 years before retiring to spend time with her family. She was known for her love of cooking. Her favorite dishes to prepare were red chile enchiladas and green chile. She also loved making her famous cherry cookies that were enjoyed by everyone she knew. She grew up loving the Lord and attended Bykota Baptist Church of Roswell.

PRECEDED: Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Mariano B Montoya and Ophelia Montoya; son, Michael Douglas Arredondo, brothers: Claudio Montoya, Sigfredo Montoya, and Wilfredo Montoya; and sisters: Bonnie Velasquez, and Cora Armijo.

SURVIVORS: Mary is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years, Joaquin; daughters: Diana Doctor (Robert) of Silver City, NM, Marsha González (Frank) of Roswell, NM, and her son: Joaquin Arredondo Jr. of Round Rock, TX; sisters: Betty Smith of Roswell, NM, and Lela Duran of Odessa, TX, Olima Montoya of Albuquerque, NM, Bergie Montoya of California; four grandchildren: Angelica (A.C.) Estrada, Candida (Richard) Romero, Jerome Mayo, and Ludivina (Jacob) Gurulé; seven great-grandchildren: Nathan Salcido, Aalayah Romero, Larissa Rae Estrada, Nayeli Estrada, Yasmeen Romero, Amaris Gurulé and Mayela Gurulé; and her precious dog, Lilah.

SERVICES: A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at 11:00 AM, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home, 2609 South Main Street, Roswell, NM 88203. Interment will follow at Hagerman Cemetery.

Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be Mary’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
