Ty Villareal earns Player of Week

NMMI freshman Ty Villareal earned Player of the Week honors in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference. His performance on the mound up in Albuquerque last weekend helped the Broncos go 4-0 against a trio of teams in the Albuquerque Baseball Academy’s JUCO Weekend. Villareal got the nod as the starting pitcher in Game 4 on Sunday, Feb. 16 and collected his first collegiate career win with five innings pitched against Western Nebraska Community College. Villareal recorded six strikeouts and allowed just three hits, holding the Cougar offense to a .167 batting average.
