Registration opens Monday for Sunrise Optimist scholarships

The Sunrise Optimist Club of Roswell will be offering a total of $4,000 in scholarships — to include three $1,000 scholarships and two $500 scholarships — to graduating seniors from Roswell, Goddard and University high schools. The Sunrise Optimist Vern Stahl Memorial Scholarship applications will be available at any of the three guidance counselors’ offices starting Monday, March 2.

Applicants will be judged on scholarship, community involvement, school participation, work experience and need. The deadline for entries is 3 p.m., April 17, 2020. Applications must be back in the counselor’s office by that time. The winners will be announced in May at the awards assemblies at the respective schools.

The Sunrise Optimist Club of Roswell has awarded over $50,000 for the past 19 years since chartering in 2000. Many of the scholarship winners have gone on to have successful college and university educational careers and have contributed greatly to their community.
