The entry period for the 2020 New Mexico-Arizona Book Awards is now open. Entries must be received by April 30 to be considered. Books published since Jan. 1, 2018 are eligible, if they have not won in any category previously.
The new and revised entry form is posted on the Book Co-op website at nmbookcoop.com.

Skiesta
Skiesta is a favorite event of both locals and visitors. Taking place at one of New Mexico’s best ski areas, Pajarito Mountain, Skiesta combines local beers and wines with live music, skiing and snowboarding, and of course, the popular costume contest.
Events run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Featured breweries for the year include Boese Brothers, Second Street Brewery, Red River Brewing Company, Bathtub Row Brewing and Rowleys Farmhouse Brewery, and music will be performed by DK and the Affordables.

Albuquerque Biopark’s Aquarium, 2601 Central Ave. NW, overnight is open for all ages. Doors open at 6 p.m., the program starts at 7 p.m. There will be marine activities, adventures and games. Participants will “sleep with the fishes.”

In the Tribute to Merle Haggard show, his sons, Noel Haggard and Ben Haggard will perform at the Spencer Theater for the Performing Arts, 108 Spencer Road, at 7 p.m. The duo will be joined by members of Merle Haggard’s band, carrying on the country legend’s legacy.

Alamogordo’s 27th annual Earth Day Community Fair will be held at the Alameda Zoo and, due to Earth Day’s popularity, new this year, it will also be utilizing the south end of Alameda Park, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Applications for vendors are currently being accepted.
