Rumors that Lovelace Regional Medical Center in Roswell was on lockdown Thursday as a result of the coronavirus were not true, according to law enforcement.
Charles Yslas, chief deputy with the Chaves County Sheriff’s Office, said he and the hospital were inundated with calls from people asking about the hospital being on lockdown after reading posts circulating on Facebook.
Yslas said he visited the hospital and spoke with hospital employees.
“I did confirm that Lovelace is not on lockdown, they are conducting business as normal,” Yslas said Thursday.
Yslas said the Sheriff’s Office is asking people to confirm all information about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) before posting it on social media.
