RPD responds to reported bank robbery

Roswell police responded Friday morning to a possible armed robbery of a local bank.

A report of an armed robbery at Pioneer Bank on North Pennsylvania Avenue was received by the Department at about 10:30 a.m., said Todd Wildermuth, public information officer for the Roswell Police Department.

Police detained a male suspect outside the bank.

Several police units and members of the Department’s Technical Services Unit were at the scene.

The ongoing investigation is being led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Wildermuth said.

Frank Fisher, public information officer for the FBI in Albuquerque, said as of Friday morning he did not have any other available information about the incident or suspect.
