The following entities have announced assistance for businesses and individuals experiencing difficulties due to the COVID-19 situation.

• The New Mexico Economic Development Department has announced two loan assistance programs. A COVID-19 Business Loan Guarantee Program has been created to help businesses obtain emergency loans or lines of credit. The EDD can guarantee up to 80% of the principal, or up to $50,000. In addition, under the Statewide Public Health Emergency declaration, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has authorized the EDD to make no-interest loans from Local Economic Development Act funds to assist COVID-19 impacted businesses. The loans are limited to expenditures for land, building and infrastructure, and can also be used for lease abatement or mortgage assistance. There are stipulations regarding those loans. Chaves County businesses can contact their EDD representative for more information. That is Susie Russell, 575-626-6653, Susanl.Russell@state.nm.us.

• The communications company Sparklight announced Friday that it will make unlimited data available on all internet services for the next 30 days and will waive late fees for its customers for the next 60 days. It also will make payment deferrals for customers who call to make arrangements. After 30 days, it will reassess the situation. Customers can call 877-692-2253 for more information.
