The Roswell Adult Center and the Roswell Visitors Center will close to the public beginning at 10 a.m. Monday, March 16, according to a press release issued by the city of Roswell Sunday evening.

The closures are part of precautions being taken by the city to address the current COVID-19 situation. They are expected to remain in place through at least April 9, the press release states — the same period through which a New Mexico Department of Health order banning large social gatherings is in effect.

State visitors centers were earlier ordered closed. Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has announced state facilities including museums, historic sites and parks are closed. She’s also called on local government entities to consider temporarily closing certain public facilities in their jurisdictions in an effort to help protect public health.

The city this week will review the possibility of temporarily altering additional city services and facilities, according to the press release.
