Roswell Rotary Club meetings canceled

The weekly meetings of the Roswell Rotary Club have been canceled through April 9.

Sunrise Optimist Club meetings canceled

Sunrise Optimist Club meetings have been canceled for the rest of the month.

Eastern Regional Housing Authority will be closed until further notice. All documents or reports to change can be dropped off in the night box. The main lobby will be closed. For more information, call 575-622-0881 between 8 a.m. and noon, 1 and 4 p.m.

City closures and cancellations

The city of Roswell has temporarily closed many of its facilities as part of precautions in addressing the current COVID-19 situation. The Roswell Museum and Art Center will be closed to the public effective March 18 until further notice from the city. This closure includes the Robert H. Goddard Planetarium and all classes. Spring clay classes will be delayed by one week and are now scheduled to begin April 14. The Roswell Museum and Art Center has moved its pARTy After Hours: Bluegrass & BBQ event from April 17 to Aug. 21.

The Roswell Parks and Recreation Department announced that the spring sports camp is canceled. The last week of swim lessons will be rescheduled at a later date at the Roswell Recreation and Aquatic Center. No April swim lessons will be scheduled. No aerobics and no water aerobics are permitted. Spring classes will be pushed back a week.

All citizen advisory committee meetings are canceled until further notice. The remaining March Out the Trash events that were being held each Saturday of March have been canceled.

The following facilities and services will not have in-person public access, but will remain open to provide service by phone, online and, if necessary, by scheduled appointment: City Hall, Planning and Zoning, Code Enforcement, Building Inspection, Engineering, Animal Services, Fire Marshal. Roswell Commission on Aging meeting canceled

The March 26 Commission on Aging meeting has been canceled.

Democratic Party of Chaves County meetings canceled

The meetings of the Democratic Party of Chaves County will be canceled until further notice.

Wednesday Book Club meeting canceled

The Wednesday Book Club meeting on March 25 at Peppers Grill & Bar has been canceled. For more information, call Paula Thoesen at 575-623-3629.

NMDOT offices closed to public

The New Mexico Department of Transportation has closed its offices statewide to the public for the next few weeks, following a directive issued March 15 from Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham. The directive calls for all state agencies to accelerate remote-work initiatives resulting from the current public health crisis associated with the Coronavirus. Pecos Valley Quilters meeting postponed

The Pecos Valley Quilters meeting is postponed until the Roswell Adult & Recreation Center reopens. For more information, contact Carol Ann Moorhead at 575-626-5975.

MUFON meeting canceled

The local Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) meeting at the Roswell Public Library on March 21 has been canceled. For more information, email Donald Burleson at burleson@cableone.net.
