A local Walmart employee removes the tape and shopping carts from in front of one of the entrances of the Roswell store early Wednesday afternoon. Employees said that they worked to maintain social distancing during a particularly busy shopping time — in keeping with New Mexico public health orders regarding COVID-19 prevention measures — by instituting the barrier and line system for a few hours in the morning. Walmart Senior Manager Casey Staheli said that Walmart stores are instituting various social distancing aides to remind customers to stay at least 6 feet apart from each other. Those include floor decals that have been created for entrances, exits, pharmacies and check-out registers that were introduced March 24 and should be in all stores within three weeks.
